Saw a reminder that Glenn was the last of the Mercury 7 to pass away. Such an amazing group of guys. Al, Gus, John, Wally, Scott, Gordo and Deke (did that from memory!). Here they are in survival training prior to their mission.

I was thinking along the same lines this afternoon when I listened to a story about him on NPR. “The right stuff” became a cliche, but they truly were a remarkable group of men. My wife’s father was a mechanical engineer during that era. White shirts, neckties and slide rules and chalkboards.
